“Fighter Pilot” Pencil and chalk on paper by Joseph Robinson (1910-1986) dated 29 - 8 - 42.

Robinson was an American artist who served with the Royal Airforce during WWII and continued to capture his experiences throughout the war. Art critic Dr Bowman describes Robinson’s work as presenting “despite the violence in numerous geographical locations, those moments of calm or foreboding between missions rather than war itself”. “Fighter Pilot” was captured in the midst of the defence of Britain by the RAF in September 1942.

We are delighted to offer this modernist depiction of a fighter pilot in the cockpit for sale.
